Malcolm Logistics has ordered 41 Class A swap bodies from Cartwright Group. The unique design is a higher-rated swap body than usual, running at a gross weight of 34,500 kilos.
Malcolm Logistics is a division of the Malcolm Group, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of third-party logistics services.
The swap bodies have been approved by Network Rail and can run up to a gross combination weight of 48 tonnes. They also have three cargo control systems specifically designed for different types of operation – one load restraint system for timber deck products, another for roll cages and a third for a roof-mounted track system to control groupage.
Cartwright engineers have worked in close partnership with Malcolm Logistics for the past year in order to design and test the three systems.
The Cartwright Group claims that “the two companies have been able to develop a truly versatile product which will cater for a diverse range of operations for Malcolm Logistics’ various customers.”
