ADL supplies 41 buses to Morebus

Morebus, a subsidiary of Go South Coast (GSC) has purchased a new fleet of 41 single-deck buses from Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) to operate its M1 and M2 services between Bournemouth and Poole on the south coast.

The order for the new ADL Enviro200 buses, which cost a total of £7.2 million, will go a long way to improving the quality of service for passengers along the two routes.

The Enviro200 features a Euro-VI engine, which is cleaner than the latest generation of diesel cars. They also have on-board convenience technology offering free wifi, USB charging points for smartphones and hand-held devices, and contactless ticketing facilities.

Morebus managing director Andrew Wickham commented: “We know just how important it is to make sustainable transport a more attractive proposition, in order to entice people out of their cars, and this investment is a huge step in that direction.

“Reducing congestion and helping to improve air quality is a responsibility we all share. It is vital to make travelling by bus a comfortable and enjoyable experience – and that means the whole package.

“Just one bus has the capability to take up to 40 cars off the road, so it really is the perfect answer for reducing traffic congestion.”

The first two buses from the new order are now in service, and they will be joined by four more per week until the entire, revitalised fleet is in operation.
