Seven new Volvo trucks for Readypower Rail Services

Volvo trucks fleet for ReadyPower

Readypower Rail Services has bought seven Volvo tractor units from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London’s brand-new Banbury dealer point.

The group consists of five Volvo FMXs and two Volvo FH chassis. All of them feature ‘Globetrotter’ cabs on 6×2 tag axle chassis, with Volvo D13K engines producing 540hp and 12-speed I-Shift automated manual transmission systems.

The trucks will be used to transport specialised rail maintenance equipment all over the UK. One of the FH tractor units and two of the FMXs are plated for 80-tonne operations, whilst the rest will work at 65-tonnes gross vehicle weight.

Tony Buckland, Transport Manager at Readypower Rail Services, commented: “We chose Volvo’s tag axle chassis for easy manoeuvrability in restricted space railways on good yards.

“With lower cabs and improved visibility levels for vulnerable roads users, the FMXs were also selected with the forthcoming Direct Vision Standards in mind, as we frequently work in and around London.”
