Bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis celebrated a large export order for its Enviro500EV electric double-decker bus, which leads its fleet round-up for August.
Hong Kong firm places second Enviro500EV order
Alexander Dennis has received a second order for its new Enviro500EV electric double-decker bus from the MTG Corporation – a transport company owned by the Hong Kong government.
The company, which runs a fleet of 169 buses, already has a number of Enviro200, Enviro400 and Enviro500 buses in operation as part of a network of feeder bus services for Hong Kong’s urban rail system. With the first of these electric buses scheduled for delivery in 2023, Alexander Dennis spokesman Andy Boulton said that these Enviro500EV orders showcase MTG’s commitment to cleaner, zero-emission transport.
Sky staff shuttled around in Enviro200EV buses
Eight new all-electric Alexander Dennis buses will soon be used to shuttle Sky staff around the broadcasting giant’s campus locations in Livingston and Osterley.
Two of these british-built electric single deck buses are already in action at Sky’s base at Livingston near Edinburgh, shuttling telecommunications call centre staff around the campus. The remaining six buses are heading to Sky’s UK headquarters in Osterley on the outskirts of London, which is the heart of the company’s broadcast operation.
Sky has plans to have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and as these new zero-emission buses will replace combustion-powered buses, Sky and its transport partners are hoping this electrified project will contribute to that goal.
Manchester Airport adds two Enviro200 buses to its shuttle fleet
Two new diesel-powered Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single-deck buses are now in operation at Manchester Airport, ferrying visitors from the car parks to the terminals, as well as airside operations.
The airport currently has two other Enviro200 buses on lease from a third party, and it has placed an order for a fifth bus with the manufacturer. The buses were chosen for their “easy access and low emissions”, and will help the airport handle the higher volume of terminal traffic that comes in the Summer months.
Crosskeys Travel adds Enviro400 bus to its fleet
Kent-based private hire operator Crosskeys Travel has purchased a new diesel-powered Enviro400 double-decker bus. Crosskeys is a long-standing customer of Alexander Dennis, having bought several Plaxton coaches in the past.
Crosskeys Director Alan Johnson said this new bus was bought to increase the range of vehicles the hire company offers, so that “customers have even more options when deciding on the perfect hire vehicle for their occasion.”
Goldline purchases wheelchair-accessible Plaxton Leopard coach
London-based Goldline Car Services has purchased a Alexander Dennis Plaxton Leopard coach fitted with a wheelchair lift and digital destination screens.
Most known for its fleet of minicabs, this is Goldline’s first ever Plaxton Leopard purchase. “This is our first new Plaxton coach and is a great addition to our fleet, allowing us to offer our customers even more choice in vehicle type”, says Goldline Director Jim Siddique.
