Eight new Volvos for Euro Packaging

Euro Packaging UK has added eight new Volvo FE rigids to its transport operation, with its latest order of four 18-tonne 4×2 rigids and four 26-tonne 6×2 rigids.

They join a fleet of 17 Volvo FH tractor units at Euro Packaging UK’s headquarters, with maintenance being covered by five-year, telematics-based, Volvo Gold service contracts.

The 26-tonne trucks are powered by D8K engines rated at 320hp, while the 18-tonne models are fitted with 250hp versions of the same powerplant. Also selected for the group were sleeper cabs and Volvo’s I-Shift 12-speed, automated transmission systems.

The FE chassis come with front steel, rear air-suspended, 5.8-metre wheelbase chassis and curtain side bodywork by Fred Smith & Sons in Walsall. Euro Packaging UK will also be using Volvo’s fleet management system, Dynafleet.

Rob Solloway, transport manager at Euro Packaging UK, explained: “We are deploying the new Volvo FEs on long-distance deliveries, nationwide.

“Volvo Trucks represent good value for money and they are the right tools for the job.”
