DAF Trucks had two fleet stories of note for August, with Welsh haulier H.F. Owen taking delivery of five new XF tractors and English agricultural haulier Keyo placing a second order for another pair of XG tractors.
H.F. Owen celebrates in style
Caernarfon-based H.F. Owen Transport & Storage is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the addition of five new DAF XF 530 FTG 6×2 tractor units, including one wrapped in a celebratory gold livery, supplied by Hexagon Leasing on a three-year lease.
The company operates a fleet of 12 vehicles and has a workforce of 15.
“We are delighted to be celebrating our 50th anniversary and wanted to mark the occasion with five new DAFs,” said Geraint Walker, transport manager at H.F. Owen.
“We chose DAF because they seem to be very comfortable for the drivers which is crucial when out tramping all week around the country. They also perform very well in MPG against the competition. Also, Holyhead Trucks Services who are our local DAF dealer are only 20 minutes down the road which makes our lives much easier.”
Two plus two for Keyo
Lincolnshire-based agricultural haulier Keyo took delivery of two DAF XG 530 FTG tractors back in July, and the company ordered two more in August to transport plant machinery for farming and food production customers.
Josh Van Den Bos, a manager at Keyo, explained the company’s decision. “We needed a large, modern and comfortable truck, with the best possible fuel economy and the latest driver aids to allow for optimum productivity for what is, at times, a very challenging operation.
“The new XG truly has it all. We easily cover 70,000km per year in each wagon, and the new DAFs provide a great working environment for our drivers. The cab size is exceptional, as are the internal and external technology features.”
Keyo has wrapped its DAFs in a special vinyl livery, with reflective properties to make the vehicles more visible at night.
