S&D Harper chooses Isuzu for gas deliveries

Northeast Scotland-based Calor Gas dealer S&D Harper has put its first Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigid truck on the road to deliver gas products on a weekly basis to homes and businesses in an area from Inverness to Turriff and inland as far as Grantown on Spey.

The Isuzu N75.190 short wheelbase chassis cab has been specified with a 14 ft alloy drop side body fitted with a rear mounted tail lift. S&D Harper are looking to run this new Isuzu for a five-year working life covering about 25,000 miles per annum.

“We operate three vehicles covering Calor Gas deliveries and previously we have always used local company Elgin Truck & Van for all our service work for these vehicles. With their recent appointment as an Isuzu Truck service dealer, we were interested to see how the Isuzu 7.5 tonner would work within our fleet as we are always looking for maximum payload, which is something that has long been associated with the Isuzu brand,” said Stuart Harper, director, S&D Harper Ltd.

“We have always had good reliable service from Elgin Truck & Van and as such we were more than happy to add our first Isuzu into the gas delivery fleet. Now that the vehicle has been in service for a while, we are extremely happy with its performance and the feedback from the driver has also been excellent.”

Established 1964 by Syd and Dorothy Harper, S&D Harper has adapted over the years to become one of the most respected caravan dealers in the North of Scotland. The company is also an established principal dealer for Calor Gas, delivering a range of products including gas appliances, gas bottle supplies and accessories.

“With the new appointment of Elgin Truck & Van Centre as an Isuzu Truck service dealer, this has had an immediate impact with new customers from within this area of north-east Scotland. We are really pleased to welcome S&D Harper into the Isuzu fold with its first ever Isuzu truck,” said Bob Docherty, network business manager, Isuzu Truck UK.
