Renault has delivered an all-electric refrigerated truck to supermarket chain Tesco, and will also be supplying three trucks to a London-based plant hire company, which sums up the brand’s fleet round-up for August.
Tesco trials Renault E-Tech in Dagenham
Renault Trucks has delivered a E-Tech D Wide truck with a Solomon Commercials refrigeration body to Tesco – the supermarket chain’s first zero-emission delivery truck. The E-Tech is now helping to supply around 400 UK stores in the London area from Tesco’s Dagenham distribution centre.
Tesco is looking to roll out an all-electric fleet in the coming months which does not incur charges in London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone and Congestion Charge Zone, and now has deals with Renault Trucks and Volta Trucks to achieve that aim.
Mr Plant Hire signs deal for three new Renault trucks

London-based Mr Plant Hire has taken delivery of a new eight-wheeler Renault C430 truck, and the company has two more Renault trucks on the way. Bought to “freshen up” its fleet, company director Stephen King says that the new C430 “a real head turner” – a vehicle that marks a new era for the plant hire company as its livery features the firms re-branded logo.
Mr Plant Hire has also ordered a new Renault T460 and Renault D18 – both scheduled to be delivered in 2023. The company’s choice of truck manufacturer stems from its long-standing relationship with Renault Trucks, and the “very reliable” nature of the Renault vehicles that the firm has operated in the past.
