Warrington’s new buses are the cat’s pyjamas

Warrington’s Own Buses has launched 13 new ADL Enviro200 single-deck buses, decorated with a Cheshire Cat theme. The new buses were launched with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Golden Square in Warrington town centre.

The Enviro200 buses have been specified with interiors by Best Impressions.  These feature high-backed seats, increased legroom, wood-effect floor and sunroof panels. Technology installation covers contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as wifi and USB charging.

Warrington’s Own Buses has restructured its routes into the southern part of the town, bringing them together under the Cheshire Cat brand – hence the Alice in Wonderland theme.

Ben Wakerley, managing director of Warrington’s Own Buses, said: “We are making huge improvements to buses in Warrington. Working with ADL and Best Impressions, we have pored over the Cheshire Cat buses to make them truly amazing.”

The 11.5m long Enviro200 – the operator’s first brand new buses in five years – are powered by Euro-VI engines with ADL’s SmartPack technology, which improves fuel efficiency by only charging alternator and compressor when the bus is coasting.

ADL regional sales manager Frank McGhee commented: “With their low-emission technology, the new ADL Enviro200s for Warrington’s Own Buses are going to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality, providing benefits for everyone along their routes.

“With versatile and stylish designer interiors, their passengers will be grinning like the Cheshire Cat that is the new route brand.”
